This blend from West Cork has gone through some clever finishing in highly charred bourbon barrels. Each barrel is double charred to 'level 5' which delivers enhanced vanilla flavours, sweetness and smoothness to the whiskey.
Following the fight for freedom from the Crown at the Battle of Kinsale, 1601, seeking aid from allies in Spain, Red Hugh O Donnell, Earl of Tyrconnell, was reputedly poisoned by an Anglo-Irish double-agent & buried in Spain. Red Earl Irish Whiskey, a tribute to his story, is first aged in bourbon, then sherry and finally matured in Rioja casks. Triple-casking delivers roundness of flavour, lengthy finish & an exceptional aroma.

Having rescused Red Hugh O'Donnell, following his escape from Dublin Castle, they fought side-by-side with Juandel Aguila, "the Spanish Earl" at the Battle of Kinsale in 1601.
Leaving Ireland in the Flight of the earls in 1607, he died in rome 9 years later, where he is still buried and immortalised in a fresco in Vatican City.

Jameson Black Barrel Irish Whiskey is a tribute to our coopers, who painstakingly give their barrels an additional charring to reveal their untold richness and complexity. Charring is an age-old method for invigorating barrels to intensify the taste. Time spent matuing in these double-charred barrels lends our whiskey a unique richness, with more intensified notes of vanilla sweetness and caramel, alongside toasted wood, fruit, and warm spice.

Following on from the hugely successful Caskmates Stout edition comes this crisp and fruity tasting IPA cask aged Jameson. This is created the same way. Jameson whiskey barrels are sent to a local brewery where thery are used to mature an IPA, the casks are then returned to Jameson where the whiskey is finished again in the casks giving the whiskey gentle hop and fruit flavours.
The intial aroma of freshly mown hay is complemented by a crisp orchard fruit character: green apples and pears, with a twist of lime yest. Mild pot still spices emerge, deepening from green tea to hazelnut and milk chocolate. The intial sweet mouthcoating typical of the Irish pot still whiskey inclusion is soon joined by a subtle touch of hops and cocoa beans. Some marzipan and chared oak add to complexity.
